Which bucket would your therapy style fit into primarily?
I majorly lean towards Cognitive Behavioural and Mindfulness based interventions. However, I do believe that therapy cannot be the same for two individuals so I tailor my approach according to the client’s need as and when required.
What’s that defining feature of your approach to therapy?
I draw from the values of mutual respect, collaborative care and understanding the client’s narrative. I believe we are much more than our symptoms and diagnosis and have the innate ability to reach our potential. In therapy, I see myself as a facilitator (and not as an expert) to help my clients achieve their therapeutic goals.
Cognitive Behavioural Therapy: Targets psychological problems by looking at learned patterns of unhelpful behaviour. Helps better understand and identify distorted thoughts and develop a better sense of confidence in one’s own abilities.
